Online Lawyer Services for Texas Special Needs Legal Planning

Parker Counsel Legal Services understands that special needs families are busy and taking care of special needs kids can be complicated. That’s why we offer our services in the most family friendly way possible. Online lawyer services are simple, convenient, and provide the same solid legal advice and service as coming to our office.

All consultations with your attorney are by video or phone. You will never need to meet in our office, which means you will never need to find child care or schedule extra time away from work just so you can drive to our office. All of our work with you will be handled by phone, email, or video conference, and when it comes time to sign your estate planning documents, we come to you, at your home.

Here’s how it works:

Estate Planning with Online Lawyer Services

  1. A short phone call with the attorney to go over what your needs are and find out if we are a good fit to help you. You will also be quoted a fee for service at this time. If you go forward, then –
  2. A conference call or video call will be scheduled with you (and your spouse, if applicable) to begin the planning process. This call will last 45 minutes to an hour, usually. Couples can call in to this meeting from separate locations, if that is most convenient.
  3. The attorney will create drafts of your documents, and send them to you for review.
  4. A second call or video meeting will be scheduled to go over the drafts, answer any questions you have, and make sure your goals are met.
  5. A time will be scheduled for a notary public to come to your home, where you will sign and finalize all your documents. We ask that you have two people over the age of 18 who are not part of your family present at that meeting to serve as witnesses. (The witnesses will not read the documents, they will only sign in witness that you have personally signed your documents.)
  6. The notary public will complete all the documents and make digital scans of them for safekeeping, and leave the originals with you. Prior to this meeting, we will have mailed you a binder with instructional pages to store your estate plan in.

Guardianship with Online Lawyer Services

If you need to create a guardianship for your adult child with a developmental disability, these are handled in a similar manner. However, the applicant for a guardianship will need to appear in person at Court for the final hearing with their attorney.
